An open and welcoming exterior space will provide links between the surroundings. The site sits between two distinct areas. A natural winding creekbed to the west that offers a quiet, pedestrian-centred experience that links with Nose Creek Park and an extensive pathway system. This is contrasted by Main Street to the East where the urban world lends itself to easy vehicle access, hardscaping opportunities and connections to nearby business. These two different conditions offer multiple opportunities for the project allowing for the creation of a range of visitor experiences. There will be an underground parkade with approximately 100 stalls as well as ground-level parking.
The new outdoor space is being designed to be used in all seasons and could potentially have:
- A plaza or gathering space
- Playground area
- Area to “spill out” from the inside space for educational or other gathering opportunities
- Connection to Nose Creek area
