The City of Airdrie kicked-off the construction of the Multi-use and Library Facility on August 21, 2023 with a well-attended Groundbreaking Event.
The event was an opportunity to celebrate all of the efforts in researching, planning, designing, and funding that have brought us to this exciting stage of the project.
Co-hosted with the Airdrie Public Library (APL), the event was attended by Mayor Peter Brown, members of Council, Daniel Nelles (Chair of the APL board) and other members of the APL board alongside project leads, indigenous community representatives and City and library staff.
“We believe this facility will be a landmark destination that offers a wide variety of opportunities both indoor and outdoor for citizens and visitors to gather, connect and learn; and as a result, bring energy and vibrancy to our downtown. This project is a catalyst for change in our city,” Mayor Brown said during the ceremony.
